Unemployment insurance, while temporary, has a similar effect. It's nice being paid to read a book or play softball.

Perhaps, but it's become a little more that just temporary over the last year or so.

And then, there are those who would like to blame that extension on a previous administration, or some such. ;>)

Unemployment insurance does serve a useful purpose for those who genuinely need it. And as an employer, I've had the privilege of of contributing to that endeavor. (wink, wink).
