Cacaito, this has been a dangerous stock from the beginning. The reason for that is not apparently clear to me right now. There are a number of possibilities:
-the large short position; Why? -a lot of shorts have been " strategically " planted on this thread from day one! Why? -Disinformation abounds; why? -FDA just told Pfizer to stop using hype for Viagra( the Viagra/Niagara falls Ad ).
I am always looking for a good detective story/plot. Is all this connected???
Possibly.
I have repeatedly warned in the past in this thread that this is a very volatile stock, as a lot of small cap stocks are.
The company from the get go has said that they do not respond to rumor/innuendo.They are very ethical if that is the correct term.
Furthermore they've already put out their case. They are in a bind now because there is no point in uncreasing marketing if you don't have enough drug to deliver.
I have started my buying position today. Reasons:
-I DON"T KNOW what is the low for the stock but we are about there. -I DON'T want to wait for the UK approval announcement WITHOUT STOCK in my hands.IMHO UK approval IS NOT built in the price and when it comes it will be good for several points. -same for FDA approval of new plant. -once it hits the perceived low the big brokerage houses of Vinick will come in and the stock will move up beyond these low points.
So I am going to start buying again even as the price moves down, and average down from here.
If the stock does not move further but instead moves up I wil watch it and decide what to do then and when to buy more.
Time however is on Vivus side because of the greest drug sales they will have as soon as they can make enough drug.
I have been in touch with my local large group of Urologists ( young guys, working hard!! gg, reminds me of my younger days, gg ). Close to 800 patients.I will report their results maybe tomorrow or Fri when I have more time.It is what the literature reported.
I am not concerned about Viagra.Works differently.May not be approved. Hopefully though it will be approved. Will only make Vivus field bigger.
And now for some exciting news:
The last issue of The Journal of Urology, Nov. 1997,p.1752, has a great article from th eUniv Of Boston, Dr Irwin Goldstein,NIH funded with a new agent " Forskolin ",a cardioactive diterpene,an extract from the root of the herb Coleus forskohlii, a perennial plant from ther Indian subcontinentthaat has been used medicinally since ancient times. It is a POWERFUL adenyl cyclase activator and smooth muscle relaxer. They injected it intracorporally in 31 patients with vasculogenic who had ALL FAILED 100% TO HAVE AN ERECTION to the MOST POWERFUL means that we now have for ED: a " triple " cock tail consisting of Alprostadil( the compound in MUSE ), papaverine HCL and phentolamine. Tha t usually has ~ 90% efficacy, but in these 31 patients it failed and the next thing would have been a penile prosthesis. Well, when Forskolin was added to that mixture 61% showed improvement in rigidity and duration. No side effects were noted. In vitro experiments showed that Forskolin with PGE1 ( MUSE )were synegistic in activiting Cyclic AMP IN DIFFERENT LOCii!! There is a concluding editorial by DrWm. Steers Dept Of urology , Univ of Virg Med School, who said that, " it is even feasible that a combination of oral[ read Viagra] AND intracavernous agents [ readVivus/Muse] may someday be beneficial." With Vivus having a patent on THE DELIVERY system, this becomes a very exciting field.
