Why do we need an MPEG 2 encoder for the DVDRAM. ? Most people for the next year or two could use a MPEG 1 VCR. (CDR or DVDRAM + MPEG 1 encoder.) This way people could record movies and TV programs or store their edited Compressed VHS home movies to cdrom. Since, the resolutions of most peoples VHS is already bad, a very expensive mpeg 2 encoder (which it will be for the next coupe of years), is not needed. Until a high resolution sourse is more widely available , such as DV cameras or MPEG 2 over the networks, MPEG 1 is still a viable sourse of revenue for all the digital video players. Someone should be doing some bundling of CDRs and La vision, or Futuretel's mpeg 1 encoders. Think of it, using a notbook, plug a VCR or Camcorder into the back of notebook, encode edit a highlight film, burn a cd, play it on your notebook, dvd player, or out of your notebook's tv out RCA Jack to the TV. Am I missing something, or can Cube win alot of revenue by getting it together with the cdr guys. IMHO, k |
