Trinity Biotech has received a $600,000 marketing assistance
package from the Irish Trade Board to help with the European
launch of its Uni-Gold immunodiagnostic rapid tests. The funds
will be made available over a 2 year period and will be repaid
through a royalty on European sales commencing in the 3rd year
of the program.. Future Uni-Gold products for Chlamydia and
H. pylorii will be launched in the lst quarter of 1998 and a Strep. A
product in the 2nd quarter. A prostate specific antigen product is
due in the 3rd quarter while a test for Hepatitis A, in conjunction
with Smithkline Beecham is due for the final quarter of 1998.
Other products in the pipeline include tests for Hepatitis C, HIV
and Influenza which Trinity hope to launch in 1999. According to
company officials the market for its diagnostic products is
currently worth $18 billion and growing rapidly.
