A new narrative abounds in Washington that Israel's intransigence with its Arab neighbors now even endangers U.S. troops stationed in the Middle East

I thought our troops in the region represent great leverage, a projection of power. Instead, some in our leadership choose to see them as hostages.

I suppose it's all in the eye of the beholder.
