So the whole concept that in general stopping such action is a bad thing is just bizarre to me.

I didn't say or suggest otherwise.

WRT "screw you," if you go to a wake and bypass offering condolences to the family, you are effectively saying "screw you." IOW, you don't have to say it to convey it.
