I don't know anyone who believes the DARK AGES was mythological nor do I know anyone who finds it "comforting". People were not free to think. They were the property of God through the agency of HIS Church. What a terrible millennium. What a horrific time for science which had such a wonderful start in the Greek mind and then went DEAD. Where it was ILLEGAL/IMMORAL to think outside of church doctrine and punishable by torture and death. What darkness. What savage bestiality.

So many mind pictures symbolize those DARK AGES but for me it is the broken old man, Galileo, getting to his knees and admitting his errors in believing the earth was not the center of the universe. His telescope LIED. Science LIED. Everyone who contradicted the ignorant church LIED...or they DIED.
