To All: This is Tungsten. Read Up.....

Tungsten

Tungsten, used extensively throughout various industries, is coveted as a strategic metal. For
example, it is the preferred and essentially unsubstitutable material for filaments, electrodes, and
contacts in lamp and lighting applications. The last decade witnessed a rapid advancement in the use
of tungsten as known technology spread from the defence industries to the commercial arena.

During this time, the US reliance on foreign sources of tungsten material has increased by
nearly 40%. Much of this increase was the direct result of a steady decline in domestic mine
production. Consumption of tungsten products increased by about 6% (to approximately $390
million) during 1995 as a result of continued growth in the US economy.

It is estimated that approximately 45% of the world's estimated tungsten resources are
located in China. By 1990, the estimated production of concentrate by China represented about
52% of the world market share. However, availability of tungsten materials from China became
progressively more limited during 1995, with China reporting imports of more than 700 tons of
tungsten concentrates that year. With over 1.25 billion tonnes of high-grade tungsten ore, the
company is well positioned to supply these markets.
