Funny. I look back now to '56 and realize just how consequential were the two wrong decisions Ike made that spring. He didn't help the Hungarian Revolution and he stopped Britain and France from taking over the Suez canal.

If he had gone the other way, Communist Eastern Europe would have dissolved and the Soviet Union would have become Russia 40 years earlier.

Meanwhile, the ME could have evolved in our favor.
