You know it's interesting... my studies of biology and "DevBio" in particular has made me realize how important the above is. All organisms are "shaped" (many terms may be better) by their environments... there are bacteria that learn to thrive in virtually any (even poisonous) environments. In fact organisms (including humans) become dependent on their environments.

Once this realization takes hold one realizes... living @ the "lake of the woods" type area with no TV no radio, etc. creates a totally different human than growing up watching TV inside concrete apartments with no exposure to nature. I really appreciate my parents taking the time to make that trip every summer. We were on the Manitoba/Ontario boarder.

Such a simple truth... and on many different levels. I really appreciate spending time in nature AS WELL AS LEARNING INTELLECTUALLY HOW AND WHY IT WORKS.

I recommend to ANYONE who is really interested in evolution and actually much more... ("the way organisms including humans work" on many levels is imbedded in the topic) to read a book on this topic:

My professor for the class was one of the authors (Brian Hall) but there are other books, I linked an excellent one late last year, but I forget the name of it.
