No, that is not all you said.

You said "so you would have to be talking about some sort of national law you wanted to see get passed"

Without a specific federal law barring the practice you would not need to pass a federal law creating a requirement for proof of eligibility for the office of president. The states would be free to create such a requirement themselves.
