There are many political "isms". But --- although (of course!) deadly enemies, Fascism and (Soviet, Maoist, etc.) Communism were united in one aspect of their DNA --- both being extreme versions of Totalitarianism.
However Fascism, Communism, Socialism, Authoritarianism, Libertarianism, Republicanism, Classical Liberalism, popular Democracy, Populism, Whigism, etc., all have very distinct individual makeups.
And one of the prime definers of Fascism, Mussolini, preferred his political synthesis to be called "Corporatism" because the movement linked Authoritarianism with the establishment's Corporate power and with Nationalism/Xenophobia. |
