"IBM's Network Station Series 1000 to feature Lotus' eSuite WorkPlace

IBM's upcoming Network Station Series 1000, the newest
member of IBM's family of network computers due in late
November, will let users run Java applets and applications directly
on the Network Station.

Lotus Development Corp.'s recently released eSuite WorkPlace
will be a key application on the Series 1000. The combination of the
Network Station Series 1000 and eSuite WorkPlace is aimed at
businesses who need access to applications delivered through
corporate extranets such as order tracking, package tracking,
inventory management, customer services or help desk services.

"We believe that IBM's Series 1000 will be one of the most
important platforms for network computing and e-business," said
Lotus' president Jeff Papows. "In that regard, Lotus eSuite and this
leading edge computing platform from IBM share a destiny based
on customers' hopes for a new generation of powerful
business-enabling technology that is easy to implement and based
on open standards."

By providing users with a comprehensive set of business applets in
an easy-to-navigate desktop environment, Lotus' eSuite
WorkPlace will provide Series 1000 customers with a single point
of access to the applications they use most often, including: e-mail,
calendar and address books; business productivity applications
such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation graphics and
project scheduling; and terminal emulation, Web browsing and
Internet access."
