Mark,

First let me say that (in all due repsect) I am very happy you have nothing to do with Intel's strategic decisions. If you did, I'd have to dump all of my shares. Your statement below shows how little you understand what makes a company successful.

<<The x86 market is mature and Intel has hit a wall. That's the reason the P6 was named the "Pentium Pro", rather than the "Hexium".>>

I would think that the reason Intel named the P6 the Pentium Pro would be so obvious that it wouldn't need explaining. Obviously this is not the case, so let me explain. The trademark Pentium has become one of Intel's greatest assests. A lot of resources have been spent creating brand awareness and associating Intel and Pentium. Everyone has heard of "Pentium". Even people who don't know how to turn on a PC have heard of Pentiums. This type of recognition is exactly what companies dream of when they develop a marketing plan. To drop the use of Pentium would have been premature and wasted a tremendously successful advertising campaign. I have no doubts that had YOU been in charge of such a decision (i.e. naming P6 Pentium Pro) you would have tried to come up with a different name.

As for the NC, what a joke. The NC is DOA and represents a total lack of vision.
