Although I agree you must do your own research you can get stale and focus on a sector or style which may have worked in the past but no longer works. New ideas can cause you to look in places you might not have before and look at things in a different light.

Also, unless you have access to up to the minute technical data for every stock in the market you will miss some nice stocks. But hey you can't kiss all the girls.
