I guess we disagree. there is a difference between a market maker and someone who is advising or recommending securities. Even if they are long at one point in time they could be neutral or short as information comes out. if you expect a market maker to have some kind of fiduciary responsibility to who ever it sells to then there would be no market makers because for the most part its a zero sum game. there is always a loser. That is why I think these hearings belie the lack of understanding of the senators as to what being a market maker entails. I again say if you believe as I that the value of the US dollar is going down and that long term interest rates are going up, and you have a fiduciary responsibility to disclose this to who ever you sell T bonds to, The United States will not be able to roll over its debt!
