Local Cops & The Feds

By: Jonah Goldberg
The Corner

I'm no lawyer (which is why I can see my reflection in the mirror), but is it really so cut and dried about local law enforcement not being allowed to enforce federal laws? Rich addresses this in regard to immigration a bit below. But forget about immigration for a second since emotions are running so hot. What about drug laws? Or trafficking in nuclear weapons? Or since those aren't specifically constitutional duties of the federal government, what about local cops enforcing laws against counterfeiting or slavery? Are states barred from enforcing copyright laws? Patent infringements? Anyway, this is an honest question, but I'm asking the lawyers for an answer anyway.
