I'm all for acting ethically and within the law. Regrettably, so far it looks like a witch hunt, perhaps a distraction from where real faults are hidden. I'm ready to be objective and willing to change my mind, but I'll need more than populism and anti-business rhetoric. Let them come up with evidence.

A firm employing 35K individuals may hold a certain position in their portfolios, short or long - while on a different floor, a broker may use the same equity as part of an unrelated deal, and at the same time their market maker may trade it without having any clue what the others are doing. There is nothing wrong with that - and yet, this is what they tried yesterday to represent as "unethical" and a "conflict of interest". They'll need to do better than that.
