President Barack Obama is expected to nominate three to the Federal Reserve Board, The Wall Street Journal reports. The White House has nominated Janet Yellen, president of the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank, to be the board’s vice chairman, Peter Diamond, an economist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and state banking regulator, Sarah Raskin, as board members of the Fed.

Yellen has served on Alan Greenspan’s Fed board and chaired President Bill Clinton’s Council of Economic Advisers. She will succeed Donald Kohn, who retires in June. Diamond specializes in Social Security, pensions and taxation issues and is co-author of a book on Social Security. Raskin has been Maryland’s top bank regulator since 2007 and has worked at consultancy, Promontory Financial Group.
