Even Bush and Cheney did not authorize new offshore oil drilling. Obama claimed he was going to push very hard for the development of new Green Technologies but I've seen him push harder for more nuclear and more drilling for oil. That's not responsible - and that's not what a strong progressive leader would do. Why won't Obama launch a Manhatten Project to get our country off oil ?? We need to spend tens of billions and get the best scientific minds focussed on this - like a laser beam. The Government has to lead the way. Look how we are more than willing to spend hundreds of billions on counterproductive wars but we don't see that kind of commitment to get off oil...Hmmm...
