Took son to Jazz Fest yesterday, local's day. Saw some excellent stuff. Had no idea Steve Martin, the comedian, is an accomplished banjo player and bluegrass musician.
Saw this group, a seriously endangered animal, i.e., an incredibly talented uniformed traditional NO brass band. These guys are good, and are the Real Thing, i.e., the musical motherlode.

We have serious talent in this city, but it has nothing to do with engineering, accounting, etc., it is music, food, the many things that make life worth living.
I enjoy watching tourists from the Midwest and the North. The look on their faces says "I feel like I just landed on Mars." |
