(3Com news) Sheraton to provide in-room Internet service

SEATTLE, Nov 5 (Reuters) - ITT Corp.'s Sheraton hotel chainwill unveil new in-room technology Thursday aimed at its coremarket of business travelers. A company spokeswoman said the technology would includeInternet service delivered through the television set as wellas "a lot of other things." The announcement will be made at Microsoft Corp.'sheadquarters outside Seattle and will include representativesof Compaq Computer Corp.'s Tandem unit, 3Com Corp. and AsiaConnect of Malaysia. "This is not about delivering something you can get today,"spokeswoman Dolores Sanchez said. "This is about combining all the things you could possibly get in your office and in yourhome and making it available in a very, very easy way." Company officials said the new system would allow travelersto establish an identity that could be used at any ofSheraton's 437 hotels worldwide to check electronic mail andvoice mail and access other customized features.
