I think spell check is a device created by Satan.

In my world, it is an absolute killer and clearly authored by Satan.

I used to ace spelling tests in grammar schools.

Then Spell Check came along and has (as MM says) reeked havoc in my world.

It stinks! At least for me.

Not only does it "correct," without my approval, stuff I don't want corrected, it changes the meaning. Some writers "create" words - and they are beautiful words that get "corrected" without my acceptance.

Makes my job more difficult than it should be.
