Well, first of all, let's be clear: It is also the Dem's policy. In case you missed it, a few weeks ago Obama embraced it in the strongest possible terms.


Not true. They are not the same policy. The Rs would drill up your ass if they thought you had any oil. Obama is allowing for limited drilling including sparing your ass.

That said, I will wait to see the actual damage rather than make assumptions based on news accounts before forming any judgment as to future drilling. Anyone who remembers the blowout of Ixtoc I knows that the news media hype can differ radically from the actual ecological damage.

This is not media hype:



And finally, what I can definitely say at this point is that government has a role in monitoring these activities to be sure that drillers can fulfill their obligations WRT environmental concerns.

So you support gov't drilling everywhere so long as there is gov't oversight. Is that what you are saying?
