"God allows the evil lusts and desires of fallen humans to come to fruition for His own purposes and in this case He allowed the wives of David to commit adultery, publicly with other men of their own choosing as a punishment on David's adultery." That is so sweet and poetic except that is not what the scripture says!! God TOOK the women and he GAVE them to be raped by the neighbors. They were not adulterers prior to this sentence by God. So whatever the neighbors did to the women God MADE them do (as he said). His sentence was to Take the Women and GIVE them to the neighbors and the neighbors shall NOT have free will (otherwise there might be no "justice"). The neighbors SHALL do what God had commanded them to do. We don't know whether he overrode their free will by a command of voice or by forcibly interfering with their ability to act morally. We only know that he did something ugly and horrible but entirely common in those old myths and very much consistent with his character and with his many other acts of "justice". You don't like it but that is the scripture. Hopefully someday you will become a man and find disgusting things disgusting and good things good.
