I've read some rumors that maybe the valve DIDN'T fail, that maybe it was the cement around the drill casing. So, the oil isn't leaking from the pipe, but around the outside of the pipe.

Yeah, it's all happening a mile under the ocean where no divers can go. It's ALL done by remote control units.

What's obvious is that BP never believed this could happen, and had NO PLAN for the contingency that it did. Neither did the Coast Guard - who probably rightly assumed it fell into BP's realm of responsibility.

The corporate "person" BP has committed a horrible act of criminal negligence. It should go to jail.
