Interesting possibility. I would think the oil industry would like for us to think it was sabotage by foreign interests. You're right. Hard to prove, and unless some group comes forward to claim credit we'll probably never know.
There's the blowout explosion and there's the inability of BP/RIG to cap the seafloor well. That's two different issues.
Plus they passed on safety equipment that is required by many other governments.
