John; It could have the same solder pin footprint to allow motherboards to use both sockets. But differ mechanically so the MB maker would need two sockets to solder in to the board. Whether or not they could achiever that kind of compatibility is to be seen. That is how I read electrical compatibility, same volts and signals, but plugs in another way to bypass some mechanical patent hindrance.
So AMD will make their CPU packs and Intel theirs, and Mr ZIF will make a board level socket to fit either one and problem solved.
