I'm sure there are many non-Christians who've considered slavery wrong.

However, to use your atheist friends argument, I know of no recorded antislavery comments by Gautama or LaoTse. Obviously, they must have approved and obviously they are are worthless as guides for human contact.

PS - the above is not my opinion but its one you must agree with as you have no problem with Solon's use of such an argument.
