"Did they approve of slavery"

I don't know. The Asian system was a caste structure not unlike slavery. It wasn't until the 19th century that a true anti-slavery movement beat down slavery in an entire Buddhist country. I don't think those primitive cultures had the capacity to rationalize equality of persons as we do now. To their credit, Buddha and Lao Tse did not counsel hating your parents or living by the sword or getting castrated (HOW LUDICROUS!!). But they were not far removed from the mythical Jesus in that they did not see slavery as all that bad. They may have been better people than the supposed Jesus (just compare the philosophies)...but they were crude people in many ways when juxtaposed aside our modern knowledge and morality.

The supposed Jesus didn't have a clue that degrading a person's freedom was immoral. Just look at all the MILLIONS of people he wiped out just because of race?? (read Joshua, Moses, etc!!)!!! :-)
