IMHO, Obama is making a hugh mistake here, with these continued references to "pressuring BP" to fix the problem. He needs to assist in fixing the problem, THEN figure out what happens to BP.

The flow rate of this disaster is all of 150 gallons/minute! Thats what my Ag well puts out (about a 3" pipe running at 50 psi). It can't be that difficult to figure out how to throttle that amount of flow, assuming we in fact still have a smidgen of American Ingenuity left.

I would think a large rubber bladder filled with wet concrete could be lowered over the well head from a barge. For the damage figures being tossed about, Obama should place nationwide adds to the effect that Timmy will hand $1B to any group who contains the well head within 48 hours, and see what proposals come forward. Whether the morons in government should be allowed to select the ranking of who gets first shot strikes me as the largest objection to this approach.
