KLP, Mobile Offshore Oil Rigs (MODUS) are tracked by submarines and given a wide safety margin. Their position is updated daily at the NGA website here... nga.mil There's a high level effort to automate the process of plotting their position on an ECDIS-N system, however, currently it's a manually process and not all countries are participating in the effort. Errors frequently occur, as some companies fear competitors learning of their drilling location, especially off the coast of Nigeria.
