"I really agree with your last point." Thanks! Bad laws lead to a lack of respect for the law in general (even the good ones to some extent) and a lack of respect for the authorities who are stuck enforcing those bad laws. (All very bad things for the country.... Having laws that are WIDELY IGNORED and / or DISPARAGED promotes cynicism towards all authority figures in our society, and promotes corruption among officials and in the general population... and, of course, feeds the ranks of the criminal underground, with potentially very long-lasting ill effects for society.
