We know the REpulicans seldom used scientific experts in designing any social policies because they just wanted to do what they wanted to do.

E.g. they wanted no top treasury secretary becasue their goal was to rape the treasury for the rich and corpoations and they wanted no only looking at what they were doing.

So they named the senile Snow and irrelevant O'Neil and then concnetrated on tax cuts, running the wars off budget and transferring as much pulic money tot he private sector as they could.

Same with envirnmental prolems. They wanted clowns like Inhoff (who chaired Republican's senate envronmental committee); and Christy Todd Whitman was given a spanish bit, when she let a report go through that said there was manmade globale warming.

But even still, according to Jeffrey Sachs in this months Scientific American, he says: In general our political system regularly puts around the table people who are not the best equiped to find deep solutions to our problems.

Obama refused to use Krugman and Stiglitz and even pushed Volker to the edge. Certainly those three would have done a better job than Geightner and Summers.
