Reports Show Improving Employment Picture

Challenger's count of layoff intentions fell to 38,326 in April, the lowest total in nearly four years and nearly half of the 67,611 total in March, Bloomberg reported. Layoffs in April last year totaled 132,590.

ADP's private payroll count, meanwhile, rose 32,000 from a revised 19,000 rise in March.
