The roots of mass apathy are found in the profound divide between liberals, who are mostly white and well educated, and our disenfranchised working class, whose sons and daughters, because they cannot get decent jobs with benefits, have few options besides the military.

He singles out whites as well educated, which I can't imagine is a bad thing, but the fact is many whites are not well educated. But be that as it may.
If we look at the other side of the picture, which is BLACK, there are a lot of obvious problems which prevent them from getting "decent jobs with benefits."
I am sorry but you will not get "decent jobs with benefits" if you wear a skull cap, if your pants are halfway down your ass, if you speak in monosyllables, if you are totally incapable of looking a customer in the eye, smiling at them, and letting them know that you appreciate your business.
"Surly and withdrawn" does not cut it in business, regardless of what business you are in.
So if you want "decent jobs with benefits" it is time to buck up, look at the way you are presenting yourself to the world, and learn some freaking personal skills.
