It was the unthinking, unfeeling, un-intuitive robots at work. After LTCM, one would think that the allegedly intelligent Masters of the Universe would know better.

The barbaric relic served me very well today. I am in the green. Some nice gains. Of course, cash and gold are 95% of my present holdings.

The NZD was really beaten up today. Your USD happy meals from QCOM will give you a very nice lift.

I cannot say this more forcefully: We are in financial la-la land, a place where dreams and hopes count more than reality. Serial bubbles have conditioned us to believe that all will be well.

It isn't so.

There is too much debt and liquidity and not enough truly productive endeavors taking place. There is a huge imbalance in the markets and in the global economy.

Imbalances get rectified, eventually, but they cause a lot of pain. We got a taste of what can happen today.
