Be Prepared with a deep value wish list. Do your research so you have the conviction to step in when panic is in full swing. Just remember that a value can become a greater value. ETF's are used widespread today and large sums of money move in and out of these ETF's so volatility of the underlying holdings can be extreme.
We are definately in risky unstable times.Much more so than 1987.
