Northern Telecom Ltd. (NTL/TSE), up $4.60 to $134.60 on volume of 696,555 shares.
Finance chief Wes Scott told financial analysts in Zurich that profit would grow faster than
revenue, which he forecast would increase in the mid-teens percentage range next year. He
also said Nortel was unaware of any fallout from the economic turmoil in Asia. Southeast Asia
contributes 5% of revenue, and most Nortel contracts are denominated in US$s.
