it is absolutely part of what happened today.

anyone who as a live human being got caught on the wrong side, for this sole reason, is going to not be compensated. that's the worst part of it.

a thinking person did his/her homework and is on the right side of his/her trade, may have come out a loser today because of the data meltdowns.

aside from how dangerous it is to have programs all go to one side of the market for a zero bid event.

what he said is absolutely correct.

geeze, the majority of the volume is all programed trading. no humans are involved directly other than a guy tweaking the program in his trading house.

scalping in milliseconds: i.e. daytrading via machine order.

this has been discussed for quite some time, and regulators have hinted from time to time they will address it...

now they better. because this today, is just a taste of what could happen.

even to people who did their homework and should NOT have lost a dime.

its the same as a solar flare wiping out the data storage of your bank account.

without a paper trail, guess what: what ever you had no longer exists.
