It wasn't Alan's fault that people went nuts borrowing. I considered the option in 2006 and looked at a house in Escondido but the house looked far too expensive and interest rates seemed likely to go up a long way, neither of which encouraged me to buy.

But somebody did and kept doing it for another couple of years.

There seems no reason why I should give them or their creditors my money. Both of them made dopey decisions and now they want me to pay them.
