Sheela is just a very nice woman who is a little scruffy, Del!! Obviously if you were made of stone and had ERODED over centuries, you would look like the old Walter Matthau rather than the younger one. The point is that she portrays female sexuality in a positive, open, healthy way. Obviously she is symbolic--the women did not really all go around displaying their most intimate wares. But female energy was perceived of as good, and not scary like the Christians made it when they burned all those poor women as witches because they knew the secrets of healing using Mother Earth's goodies.
I did not cast any kind of spell on you!!!! Perhaps you have finally realized the flounder are MEDITATING, and that they have adapted the same techniques of Ghandian nonviolence that the treehuggers used when they got pepper sprayed, and so you are a little conflicted about killing them, and created a hole in your waders!!! We create everything around us, you know!!!!!!
Modern pagans are mostly monogamous, and the love festivals are few and far between. Are you saying that paganism has a certain appeal? It is certainly a little wetter or something than atheism, but both belief systems are very nice. Atheism strikes me as more philosophical, and paganism more sensual and grounded. Certainly they both celebrate the here and the now!
So, just to clarify, are you saying Sheela is TOO scruffy for you, Del? |
