I have emailed Anand to ask him to make benchmarks on the L2 cacheless Pentium II 266 against the slot 1 version. Hopefully, we could see his benchmark reports very soon.

I think that Intel is over-reacted to the sub-$1,000 PC market share to come up with the idea of disabling L2 cache on PII. There must be something really bad happening. Otherwise, Andy Grove won't talk about the share buyback projects and its stock price with small investors publically.
