SVU. Just making a comparison. Ethnic stores are the ones that seem to be growing by square foot size and by number of locations. Certainly in my geographical space. They are privately owned mostly (e.g. 99 Ranch Market, Diho, Big Saver, Island Pacific, Korean Freshia), or parts of conglomerates or on foreign exchanges (e.g. Mitsui, Marukai,Supermercados Gigante)

In the white-bread area, the expanding companies seem to be Trader Joe's (privately owned) and its new competitor, Tesco's Fresh and Easy. These are "neighborhood markets", and being small sq. foot spaces, they appear to expand more quickly.

I believe I have Tesco as #1 position in a Vanguard annuity fund I have.

My order for a few shares of SVU is in. Has not filled.

(Aside: I'm still holding shares of big box grocers Costco and Wal-Mart)
