Bayou Steel (AMEX:BYX) says suspends operations

HARRIMAN, Tenn., Oct 30 (Reuters) - Bayou Steel Corp said Thursday that it suspended operations following an industrial incident and fire at its rolling mill at about 1715 EST October 28. The company said there were no injuries. The company's insurance carrier has been put on notice, and an investigation is underway to determine the extent of damage, the company said. A dollar estimate of the damage was not immediately available, the comopany said. Employees contained the fire prior to the arrival of the fire department, the company said. About 25 employees who were at the facility late Tuesday when the incident occurred evacuated safely, the company said. The shipping department is housed separately and has remained open to ship orders, the company said.
