You getting a speeding ticket is prima facie evidence of a careless attitude to other people. Having accidents is confirmation.
My getting a speeding ticket is prima facie evidence of nothing other than an officer thinking that I needed a ticket. The circumstances might give evidence one way or another, assuming the accidents were my fault. You have no facts, so really, you’ve just leaped to another facile judgment.
Whether you are any more risky than BP is hard to say from this distance.
Well, I have never killed anyone in my accidents. BP cannot claim the same. I also don’t try to lobby congress to lower safety standards, or bypass responsibility. I don’t reduce safety in the workplace to save money. You probably don’t see the difference. I think your statement comes from your own point: “Ego and the need to feel dominant is quite a drive.” I supposed the point was “that you (GPS Info) are no better than BP, so therefore you shouldn’t cast stones.” I have seen this level of logic from you before, so I am not surprised.
I read many outlandish comments by you and others on SI from time by time, but I usually don’t have the time to reply. There doesn’t seem to be a point - and my ego has no need for stroking. I think I have accomplished enough over the last 30 years to create a viable sense of self-worth, and I need no further validation from SI. How about yourself?
When I have the time, I try to read something on SI that gets me in or out of a stock before something big happens. I like to understand the sentiment in different stocks, like QCOM, or investments areas like real estate. Sometimes while doing this, I see statement from you that I believe to be patently untrue. If I have the time (like this weekend) I’ll post something. However, I do not get sense of dominance. BTW, do you feel dominated? Do you feel threatened and defensive because I have criticized BP? Do you really need to defend their honor, having been once an employee? Do you need to take a terrible safety record and call it just random accidents? This seems like an unhealthy attachment to a corporation. I understand that some people identify themselves with their jobs, past or present, and so I suppose that must include the corporate identity as well.
If any of my past or current employers committed a workplace safety crime, I would want them to be punished. Truly. If they violate securities law, I would want them punished – even if they were good to me while I worked there. I hope I never, ever make excuses for them.
No, I don't have data on the relative safety of BP.
OK. So maybe they have a questionable safety record. I think they should pay a penalty for safety lapses.
Safety is an excellent idea but analyzing who is safer than whom is not so simple.
OK. It seems like when people complain about a lack of concern for safety in certain areas, and those same areas are responsible for multiple simultaneous deaths, the analysis shouldn’t be too complex. I think most people posting here could probably figure that out, but I supposed we can leave it to the jury. |
