The problem is that the federal government refuses to enforce the law. AZ has no choice but to deal with its own problems.

Not true. AZ could sue the federal gov't much like some states sued the gov't over Cafe Standards........or it could have modeled its law off of the federal law. Instead, it came up with its own version.......one that is open to charges of racism.

Yet any time someone wants to enforce immigration law, someone is going to cry racism.

Not if its done right. I want the immigration laws enforced as well but I don't want American citizens pulled over haphazardly and taken to immigration if they don't produce a birth cert. on the spot.
