To be honest, I never personally saw that as a real benefit, but I do see job security as a general value and a swaying factor for new teachers to join the Teacher Associations. "Guaranteed job for life as long as you don't rape or beat students."

I value interest, innovation, challenge, and creativity in work. It seems ironic that it has such an impact on the choice to become a teacher since security is way down there on the survival strata of values.
