Haha, that's a good one. <It's going to be real interesting to see if there will be any "savings" by applying cuts to services > My experience of government "services" is that they are a pain in the neck and of little value.

The worst "service" of all is paying people to torture little children to death. Even worse is torturing them to near death, then having those children grow up to do worse to others than was done to them.

The government is now paying many thousands of people to be violent criminals and making other people who aren't criminals legally into criminals by creating swarms of Bossy Big Brother laws. Everything is illegal unless it's compulsory. Everyone is legally worth more than $12 an hour although many of them have negative value with their current states of mind.

I can't think of a government "service" I have enjoyed and have had value for money from in the last 3 years. I did go on the new road north [they built about 10 km of new road at great cost]. I like that road. But the toll system for it is just ridiculous. I sent them an email as soon as there was an article in the newspaper about their plans, and as soon as they started selling toll access on-line, which I bought, being so keen for the road>

I explained why it would be a shambles and what they should done instead of what they did and that they should very quickly change their methods.

Of course as ALL government people do, they ignored my comments and went ahead. As soon as they opened for service, all Hell broke loose and it was a shambles. Now, they have got it much more like I said they should do it. It's bad now but not totally ridiculous. Well, it's totally ridiculous compared with how good it should be, but we can't expect much from such people.

The road is quite rough too - it's not a gliding smooth ride as they build in the European motorway system. The construction standards are shocking. But the railways are even more ridiculous. The latest fashion is to build flash train stops but not provide actual trains for people to go on - there are few, they are rickety, expensive, and the rails have seen better days. It is not Shinkansen!! They figure it takes about 1000 tons of industrial revolution machinery to move a few dozen 70 kg blobs of protoplasm at about 30 km per hour.

And the road is one of the good things.
