James,
Keep in mind that the savings in commission is no bargain if you end up paying 1/16 more for the stock because the deep discounters go to secondary markets and do not have the leverage of a Schwab which does 90% of the trading on the Pacific Exchange and have greater leverage with trading. This is the problem with the deep discounters. Customers get shafted but it is invisible to them. Deep discounters are paid a kickback from the secondary markets for the trade. This is where they make up for the "apparent" cheap trade price. My trades are $40. Call Schwab and tell them that you are considering a swithch and they will probably cut you a better deal. This commission will also likely fall by the beginning of the year.
